Now that's pretty quiet. Intel, today, announced its Core i5 and Core i3 branding with very little detail. The post that inspired all of this is here, which I found from Cyril's summary on Tech Report (btw, Cyril's posts pretty much always rock).

The important take away points are as follows:

1) The new brand is Intel Core. There will be three derivatives: Core i7, Core i5 and Core i3.

2) The Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad branding will eventually disappear.

3) Pentium, Celeron and Atom will remain.

4) Centrino will also go away and Intel's WiFi and WiMAX products will inherit the name starting in 2010.

But what separates a Core i7 from a Core i5 and Core i3? I may have some insight. Let's start with desktop processors:

Only the Core i7 is allowed to run in a LGA-1366 socket, however there will be LGA-1156 i7, i5 and i3CPUs . The number of memory channels and the presence of a QPI link does not determine branding. In other words, Lynnfield will be both a Core i7 and a Core i5 depending on the SKU.

The LGA-1156 Core i7s will be the 8xx series, while the LGA-1366 i7s will be the 9xx series. The i5s will be the 6xx series and the i3s will be the 5xx series.

Four cores and HT enabled with turbo mode yields you a Core i7 on the desktop. If you only have support for up to 4 threads then you've got a Core i5; take away turbo and you have a Core i3.

In mobile, things are a little different:

The mobile i7 can be 2 or 4 cores and support 4 or 8 threads, which makes sense since there will be more dual-core than quad-core mobile processors. The rest of the lineup follows the desktop rules; i5 and i3 are capped at 4 threads and i3 doesn't have Turbo.

I've got one more thing to report. Remember how I wasn't totally sure about the turbo modes for the top end Lynnfield processor in our preview? I think I've got it:

From what I've heard, this is going to be a Core i7 870 and the turbo modes are similar to what I estimated. With two cores active this thing will turbo up to 3.46GHz (4 speed bins). That's going to be a huge boon to performance in games and other apps that have difficulty using more than 2 threads. Combine that with Windows 7's superior thread handling and I believe we have a winner on our hands.

If mom and dad bought a netbook, why can’t Junior have one?Disney is teaming up with the Taiwanese computer maker Asus on a Disney-branded netbook called Netpal, targeted at kids 6 to 12 and due out in late July. As you might imagine, the $350 machine adds a distinctly Disney bent to Asus’s Eee PC with an 8.9 inch display and Intel Atom processor.
The netbooks are encased in “Princess Pink” (with florals) or “Magic Blue” (miniature Mickey Mouse icons). Disney designed a kid-friendly user interface to sit on top of Windows XP. Youngsters can change the desktops with customizable themes, built around Mickey Mouse, Cars, Toy Story, WALL-E and other themes.
A Magic Desktop “gadget tray” has icons for a Disney browser, e-mail and parental controls. Kids can only surf to sites or correspond via e-mail with people approved by parents.
Features include a Radio Disney widget that streams music from the channel in real time. There are other widgets for such things as a digital memo pad, calculator and stopwatch. A photo application lets a kid insert his or her own picture on top of a bobblehead.
The computer has Wi-Fi but no 3G cellular collection. Parents can choose a configuration with a 16 gigabyte “solid state” hard drive or opt for a 160 GB hard drive that adds extra storage but is less sturdy. It weighs between 2.2 and 2.6 pounds.
Though the computers are unmistakably Disney, the designers haven’t quite gone over the top as they did on the Disney Dream Desk PC I reviewed back in 2004. It had an optional 14.1 inch monitor that was shaped like Mickey’s head, with his prominent ears doubling as the computer’s speakers. There were also Mickey Mouse ears on the mouse.
Because the Netpal design is, shall we say, a little more subtle, the kids may not want to retire it so fast as they get older. Netpals will be available Toys R Us, and Amazon.com.

    小丑鱼的梦只游荡在佳鼎海中……

       小时候，看到爸爸每次用带有很锋利的刀片的剃须刀休整他那满脸的胡须时，一直好奇是不是男人长大后都要长胡须，胡须在脸上又不阻挡他抽烟，干吗每天挥舞着他那把小刀片和胡须过不去呢？没当我有此疑问时，老爸总是会说：“小屁孩懂啥？”， 我很无辜的摸着下巴上的汗毛，寻思着我这也算是胡须吧？

      随着年龄的增长，那绒毛状的汗毛渐渐变黑，尤其是青春期过后，更是一发不可收拾，整个鼻子下方的阵地都被黑色的叫做胡须队伍给占领了，怪不得好多革命小说写的土匪都叫胡子，原来是有道理的，嚎。不过由于听从了满脸胡子的老爸的忠告，没有很早的去惹这帮胡子，他们还算比较和谐，没有向其他领域扩张领域，仅限于嘴上方，鼻子下方园几平方厘米的地盘。

     大学时，离开了小时候居住多年的民风淳朴的家乡，来到了一个听着沧桑，还算繁华的陌生城市--南京，由于没见过世面，初到那个城市，有乡下人进城的感觉，一切都是那么新鲜，大一军训时，经常听到有女生在背后议论我，起初我还以为她们觉得咱长的帅，于是自信心开始膨胀，继续纵容着那片胡须的肆虐横行，然后还冲人女生傻笑，结果人女生绕着咱走，搞得我自己像个智障儿童。

      后来和表姐聊天时，她看到我的照片很含蓄的说：“我比你大吗？我怎么觉得你大我好几岁哦，我叫你大哥吧，哈哈，弟弟啊，长大了哦，或许咱们从农村出来的原因，更注重内涵吧，尤其那胡须很有个性。。不过女孩子更喜欢阳光般的男孩”，我不懂的什么是内涵，但是听到最后一句，我的确很汗。。。。因为不知从何时起，逐渐有人叫我“村长”，起初我以为是同学们对班长的尊称（班长军训可以顶个小排长了），所以每当有人叫我村长的时候，那小虚荣心烧的，火火的。自从姐姐说我有“内涵”后，觉得这个“村长”外号很有内含--（内在的含义）。从那以后我痛下决心彻底颠破以前的形象，重新包装，首要任务就是要清剿那帮土匪。

    于是我的第一把“刀片式”剃须刀诞生了，拿着这把利器，很happy的把那帮土匪给一扫光，再配上重金采购的服装，加上我的个人形象顾问的指导，一个新的“村长”诞生了。。。没了胡子的和谐的脸，配上咱自信阳光般的笑容，摇摆着一米小八的个头走在路上，倍拉风，有事没事经常去操场上跑步，图书馆看书，自习室上自习，为啥？这些地方人多，尤其后两个地方，女生更多。。。。第一次扫荡后，过了很久那群小胡子才再敢回来，不过它们回来一次我就用我的剃须刀扫荡一次，大概过了几个月，胡子们出行的周期缩短，而其生命力更加顽强，那把剃须刀牺牲了好几个刀片，还是难以抵挡这帮土匪的来势汹汹。

    大二开始，我忍痛放弃了这种手动的武器，换了一个自动化的武器--电动剃须刀，装上电池，那小速度快到，扫匪过程由原来的半小时缩短为三两分钟，而且自动化武器不用事先用剃须液麻痹胡子们就可以直接扫荡。尤其是大二的时候加入了学生会，虽然没干啥事情，但是经常在屁股后面有人叫你老大，对咱这热血青年的虚荣心是极大的满足，形象方面比以前更加重视了。可是土匪们好像更猖獗了，竟然把进攻周期调整为三到两天，更让人气愤的是他们竟然在脖子和腮上大起了游记。我仗着有着自动化的武器，杀啊杀的，没想到中了匪的圈套，往哪儿杀，哪儿更旺盛。

    这把自动化武器陪伴了到大四，鉴于敌太顽强，里面的刀片折了一个，我让它光荣的退伍了，（现在由脸上很和谐的大志珍藏），大四以后又换回了手动的武器，用手动武器加上剃须液，多花些时间可以让脸更干净，我想那句“只要用心就能赢得精彩”也是某位仁兄修理胡子的时候想出来的吧。

    由于工作后，我们早上上班比较早，有时候晚上偶尔加班没有那么多时间再用手动的剃须刀和帅帅的胡须亲密接触，小飞牌自动化剃须刀被调到我这边支援了，然而道高一尺，魔高一丈，脸一天不修理就会布满沧桑，用现在很时髦的话说：我一天不修理胡须，小妹妹们就会尊称我60后的大叔，我修理完胡须，大姐姐们就会调戏我说我是90后，如果隔他个几天不修理这帮土匪，再加上加班，或者饮点小酒，那我一出门就会有一帮人用异样的眼光看我。有一次在无锡火车站，刚进候车大厅的门，一个穿着制服的人很不友好的把我给拦住了，非要检查我身份证，然后用对讲机对不知道在哪里猫着的人大声念出了我姓名年龄，确认不是他们要找的人后，才放我走，把身份证还我时，那家伙还用眼神瞪我，我忐忑了好久走到洗手间，看到我那张几天没有刮胡子的脸，再加上身上几天没有熨平的衣服，还有那几天没有洗的头，的确有点像。。。。。形象啊，形象，全被这帮土匪毁了！！！不过话又说回来了，要是我这个“当政者”够贤明，够勤劳，够用心对待我这张脸的话，这帮土匪还能够那么猖獗吗？

    小飞陪伴我到现在有一年多了，兢兢业业，立下了汗马功劳，不过小匪们还是那么猖獗，单兵作战能力越来越强，还学会了打游击，小飞的刀片有点力不从心了，在数次的战役中总会有一些顽固分子留下来，而且他们的大部队上午走后，晚上就会杀回来，所以为了社会的和谐，为了国际化大都市的市容，为了不让街上的美女见着我躲着我走，为了我的光辉形象，我做出一个重大决定：引进更先进的武器，和这帮土匪决战到底。

  我们年轻，我们勇敢，我们有激情！永远拥有一颗童心，永远以快乐积极的心态去面对生活。
